The Value of Christian Education
‘I’m so proud of our School’ a parent reflected to me earlier this term as he described the desire of parents he knew to enrol their children at Calvin Christian School and the opportunities for his own child.
Another father recently relayed to me his son’s reflections as he moved to Calvin this year, saying ‘he loved this School’.
It is always encouraging to hear positive stories from our community about the work that we do as a school and the impact of Christian Education on the lives of both young people and their families. Whilst understanding that working with people has its challenges, we also know the power of encouraging words and of well-placed conversations that reflect the value that you place on being able to enrol your children in a low fee Christian School.
As supporters of Christian Schools, you would be aware that the independence and funding of schools like ours is contested in some quarters. With an election coming up, we are aware that decisions made during this election could directly affect funding and the ability of families to choose schools that align with their faith, values and aspirations.
“It is always encouraging to hear positive stories from our community...”
Schools like Calvin are funded through a combination of government support and the significant contributions of families and communities. Ensuring stable and fair funding is essential to maintaining the high standards of education we strive to provide.
Raising awareness about these issues is an important step in protecting the diversity and accessibility of education for all families. To support this effort, Independent Schools Australia has launched the School Choice Counts campaign, which highlights the value of Independent schools and the importance of fair funding.
If you would like to learn more, we have resources available to help you share your voice. Your support is invaluable in making a difference, not just for our School, but for independent schools across Australia. Should you have any questions or wish to explore the resources further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or the School Office.
Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to the Calvin Christian School community as we seek to deliver the highest quality Christ-centred education that prepares and equips our students for life.
I pray that you and your family have a blessed Easter break together as we remember the sacrifice of Jesus and the restored relationship that we enjoy with God as a result.
