This question has been floating around in my head for a few weeks as I prepared to take a group of our young female students to the ‘Fearless Festival’.
This was an event organised to promote the involvement of women in a large array of occupations and industries. Our students were able to meet and talk with women who are members of the army reserve, drive cranes for a living, and work in emergency services to save lives. The aim of the festival was to encourage our young women to actively pursue their career goals despite the barriers. To reach for the stars and utilise and develop their God-given gifts and interests - whatever they may be.
As I pondered this concept, a thought kept popping back into my head. To be fearless, and rather to fear-less, one needs to know more. Exploration is key. Finding out more information. Speaking to more people. Learning more about roles and responsibilities and realities. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and sound judgement. It is when we step out in THAT spirit, seeking to know more, that we can truly fear-less.
